Author and illustrator Christopher Olson will be at the CEASE Holiday Flea Market to promote Tremendous Tales, a bimonthly ‘zine of microfiction and illustration, which takes the reader on brief excursions into the speculative, the fantastic, and the absurd.

The event takes place Saturday, December 17th and Sunday, December 18th at Fresh Paint Gallery, 180 Ste-Catherine Street East, from 10AM until 6PM.

Ashley Roark: The Montreal Project

The Montreal Project by Ashley Roark


Ashley Roark creates collage using post-industrial office supplies; papers with pale muted tones, texture, pattern, and typography.

Maison Kasini invited Roark to Montreal where she spent much of the week sourcing materials from around the Belgo Building, downtown Montreal, the Village, and Mile End.

The results of her work are on view at Galerie Maison Kasini.

Carl David Ruttan: Trusted Everywhere by Everyone…

Enter into the detailed world of halftones, ink bleed, and paper fibres. “Carl David Ruttan: Trusted Everywhere by Everyone...” zooms into the micro-world of print. Ruttan collects and collages the paper ephemera he finds while traveling. Back in Montreal, Ruttan scans the collages at extremely high resolution, and produces one unique print to accompany the original collage as the final, archivally stable work of art.

Tremendous Tales creator and author Christopher Olson at Con*Cept 2011

Christopher Olson will be at Con*Cept 2011 to promote Tremendous Tales, his bimonthly 'zine of microfiction and illustration.

Volumes one and two will be available for purchase, as well as limited edition signed art prints of Olson's illustrations. Olson, who lives and works in Montreal, has had work published in Fantasy & Science Fiction, Broken Pencil, and Papirmasse.

Con*Cept is Montreal's only fan run annual science-fiction and fantasy convention.
