Night Putto
Statement by Charles Orme
Night Putto’s dramatic blue blanket of clouds was illuminated by a full moon. The crane truck and lighting operate as aesthetic and compositional punctuations, and begin to reveal more factual structure. This shoot would be dreamlike yet restless. The movement of the figure smears different abstractions against the sky, both beautiful and haunting. The subject has moved away from the quick delight and into a deeper metaphor. It has become an emotional tangle of realistic and phantasmal thought, yet brought about through the same subject matter. I converted the digital format to a film transparency to exploit their glowing nature. The resulting images are sharp and alive, and their formal intrigue leads to confusion between event and dream.
