Art is food. Feed the people.
Galerie Maison Kasini is a commercial art gallery that shows Canadian and American, emerging and mid-career, contemporary artists. We focus on art that has a strong conceptual foundation embodied in an accessible object. Through exhibitions and publications, we work to foster a broad and diverse interest in contemporary art and collecting with an eye towards those people who are just starting to build a collection.
Maison Kasini is a dynamic creative enterprise that seeks to make contemporary art and culture work. In addition to operating a sustainable and profitable business, we are interested in cultivating new markets for contemporary art and making contemporary art relevant to a broader audience. We work very closely with our U.S.-based sister company, Kasini House.
Maison Kasini is about contemporary art. We operate an art gallery in Montreal’s Belgo Building that exhibits the work of contemporary artists. In 2010, the gallery presented twelve exhibitions.
Since 2010, Galerie Maison Kasini has been a member of the Association des galleries d’art contemporain/Contemporary Art Galleries Association and participated in Papier 10, Papier 11, and Papier 12.
Maison Kasini publishes folios of artwork, books on contemporary art and culture, and catalogs of art as a means of diffusing work and reaching a broader audience. Since 2006, Maison Kasini has published over twenty-five titles, sometimes in partnership with its U.S.-based sister company, Kasini House.
ARTSHOP is an ongoing project that explores contemporary art in small and multiple formats. The project includes work by over fifty artists, a quarter of which are living and working in Quebec. The project started in 2004 as a way of organizing, exhibiting, and sharing the by-products and small objects of contemporary visual artists.
The AGAC’s mission is to improve the promotion and to facilitate the flourishing of today’s artistic creation and its circulation in the province of Quebec, in Canada, and abroad – to encourage the public’s interest in contemporary art – to look into and defend the moral and economical interests of the profession in the province of Quebec, in Canada and abroad – to encourage healthy relations between its members, and, finally, to stimulate the contemporary art market.
