Michel-Thomas PoulinEpsto I draw and paint to understand things, see the great in the small and small in the grand. I define a playground, a framework for discourse and the framework is part of the discourse itself. I confront different types of representation: objective, expressionist mannered, primitive…like layers with varying levels of consciousness, like the many facets of the same coin. I study distance, the slow, fast. I cut in the dark. In 90 years, my work as an illustrator and my research became a pictorial paradox. I started playing music seriously with a penchant for improvisation. This desire for spontaneity and lyricism has influenced my painting. My current work is a synthesis of my abilities, my voice, and my most memorable experiences. It is a spiritual quest which requires, in its execution, a monk's work .
